General Cargo Any consignment other than
a consignment containing valuable cargo as defined and charged for transportation
at general cargo rate is called General Cargo.
Perishable Cargo Perishable cargo is an
item which is subject to decay, deterioration or decomposition over a period of
time, or if expose to adverse temperature, humidity and other environmental conditions.
Perishables we uplift include commodities like chocolates, dairy products, meat,
plants, flower bulbs, serum, vaccine, fruits and vegetables. Perishables shall be
accepted without any responsibility for any loss or damage due to changes in climate,
temperature, altitude or other ordinary exposures.
Shipments of perishables must be prearranged and booked all the way through to final
destination. If any special handling and/or stowing arrangements are required, this
must be indicated on the Air Waybill (AWB) and a small Attention label should be
affixed.
Vulnerable Cargo Goods for which no value
is declared, but which require security handling; OR shipments which are vulnerable
to theft or pilferage. It may include one or more of the following articles like Electric goods, computer parts,mobile phones,
antiques etc.
Dangerous Goods Dangerous Goods are substances
that are capable of posing a significant risk to health, safety, property or the
environment. They can be carried by air when
the risk they pose is reduced to an acceptable level by limiting the quantity per
package, and by packing in such a manner that the package will not fail during normal
transit. Dangerous goods are classified according to the danger to which they give
rise. A hazard class identifies each particular type of danger. There are nine hazard
classes, some of which are further divided into divisions. A summary of the classes
and divisions is as follows:
Class 1
EXPLOSIVES - substances or devices having an explosive effect, e.g. detonators,
igniters, grenades, fireworks, cartridges, etc.
Class 2
GASES - Compressed, liquefied, dissolved under pressure or highly refrigerated.
– Cigarette lighters, compressed oxygen, aerosols, etc
Class 3
FLAMMABLE LIQUIDS - Liquids, mixtures of liquids or liquids containing solids in
solution or in suspension that discharge a flammable vapor at medium temperatures
e.g. paints, alcohol, petrol, brake fluid , etc.
Class 4
FLAMMABLE SOLIDS - Solids which, under conditions encountered in transport, are
readily combustible or may cause or contribute to fire through friction. E.g. phosphorous,
potassium, matches, fire-lighters.
Class 5
OXIDISING SUBSTANCES and Organic Peroxides - ORGANIC PEROXIDES are substances that
normally do not burn but, when in contact with oxygen, can set fire to other materials.
For example - bleaching powder, potassium permanganate, pool chemicals, disinfectants.
Class 6
POISONOUS (TOXIC) AND INFECTIOUS SUBSTANCES - Poisonous substances are substances
that can cause death, injury or health problems if swallowed inhaled or contacted
by skin. For example - pesticides, cyanide compounds, etc. Infectious substances
are substances which are known or are expected to contain micro-organisms like bacteria,
fungi, viruses and other agents which can cause diseases in human beings or animals.
Class 7
RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS - Radioactive materials mean any material containing radio-nuclides
where the concentration of activity or total activity on the consignation exceeds
the amounts specified in the IATA Regulations on dangerous Goods, for example -
uranium, carbon-14, etc.
Class 8
CORROSIVES - substances that, in the event of leakage, can cause severe damage when
in contact with living tissue or that can severely damage other cargo or the aircraft,
e.g. hydrochloric acid, sulphuric acid, etc
Class 9
MISCELLANEOUS DANGEROUS GOODS - these are substances or articles not covered by
the other classes and which can be a source of danger when in contact with air.
These include magnetized materials which can affect the flight navigation systems,
and other regulated substances that can cause extreme disappointment or discomfort,
for example - dry ice, amianthus, machines of internal combustion, consumer goods,
dangerous substances, etc
Following Dangerous Cargo is prohibited for carriage on Kingfisher Cargo:
All classes except Class 9, for flights within India and from India to any international
destination. Following classes of Dangerous Goods for flights from International
stations to any station in India:
Class 1 – Explosives
Class 2 – Gasses (Toxic) Div 2.3 only
Class 4 – Flammable solids
Class 7 – Radioactive Material
Dangerous goods are not acceptable unless the shipper has certified that all the
shipments comply fully with the applicable dangerous goods regulations. All articles
must be declared on a 'Shipper's Declaration for Dangerous Goods'.
Fragile Cargo Fragile cargo is cargo which
may easily be damaged, if exposed to jolting, dropping, bumping or rough handling
during transportation. Typical fragile commodities are antiques, photos and video
cameras and their accessories, musical and optical instruments, works of art, chinaware,
glassware, earthenware, cast-iron articles, TV and radio tubes, sculptures, etc.
Fragile Cargo is only accepted for carriage provided that:
• It is adequately stored in solid packing materials (wooden cases, grades), preferably
new
• If used packing materials are used, it should be in good condition
• If it is breakable, it must be wrapped by enough absorbent material to absorb any
liquid in the container
• Each package should be marked with the ‘Fragile’ and ‘This Side Up’ labels.
• Apart from these, if any special handling and/or stowing arrangements are required,
this must be indicated on the package as well as on the Air Waybill.
Bonded Cargo The term ‘bonded cargo’ refers
to Import cargo that has not been released from customs, export or transshipment
cargo inspected and sealed by customs OR any other type of cargo under customs surveillance
and control. Kingfisher Cargo accepts such shipments
for carriage in domestic sectors or to be transferred to an airline for onward international
carriage. The cargo is shipped under a customs bond and at designated destination
it is received by International Airlines representative.
PO Mail PO Mail refers to Post Office Air Mail accepted from civil postal authorities for carriage on domestic or international sectors. It is governed by Universal Postal Union Convention and is designed to meet the requirements of Postal authorities for carriage on Domestic & International network . The service is offered to local postal administrations.

Unaccompanied Courier Baggage Unaccompanied
Courier Baggage also known as UCB is a special service to cater to the needs of
courier companies for transportation of packets collected from various sources.
Late acceptance and early release of shipments
means that your urgent cargo can travel anywhere on our extensive network at any
time. The movement of UCB is against a Courier Baggage Voucher (CBV).
